What sparked your interest in archery? Movies and TV shows make it look cool. The Olympic Games put it on a global stage. Bowhunting allows you to live the field-to-fork lifestyle. Joining a school team or archery organization creates friendships and opens up the world of competition. Whatever the reason for your interest, archery is an exciting and accessible sport that can be enjoyed in many different styles.

Target Archery
Target archery is the most popular archery discipline in the world. Every four years it’s on the worldwide stage during the Summer Olympics. However, recurve equipment is the only archery equipment sanctioned to use at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Target archery features indoor and outdoor formats. Competing in target archery is an exciting challenge.

3D Archery
In 3D archery, archers shoot at 3D foam animal targets, creating excitement while building and honing archery skills. 3D targets help create an exciting wilderness hunting scenario, try to mimic the countless scenarios bowhunters could face in the field. But isn’t just for hunters, it’s exciting for any archer because no two shots are the same, and it’s meant to be played with a group of archers. If you’re lucky enough to have a backyard range, you can set up your own 3D range by buying several animal targets.

Field Archery
Field archery is often compared to golf. Targets are placed at varying distances in different terrains, similar to 3D archery. Archers shoot at severe inclines and declines or among cover. If you want to be the best archer you can be, give field archery a try. It will test you in every way imaginable. But master it, and you’ll be a highly skilled archer.

Recreational
A fun activities in all forms from a beginner to intermediate, youth and family, backyards, camps, and local clubs. Practice at a range or in your backyard, if you have adequate room and can put up a backstop, just for your own enjoyment. If you’d like a little bit of friendly competition, join a league to practice with other archers and compete in a relaxed, informal setting.

Bowhunting
Hunters hunting with compound bows or traditional bows. If you’re interested in bowhunting, take a bowhunter education course to learn hunting regulations, the basics of bowhunting and proper safety techniques. Practicing bowhunting will allow you to harvest wild game to add to your dinner table while practicing archery at the same time. You’ll learn how to shoot from elevated angles and under various weather conditions.

Traditional Archery
Traditional archery is all about having fun, getting back to archery’s roots and challenging your archery skills. There’s no pressure in traditional archery, it teaches you that you can still have fun while missing the bull’s-eye. Even without sights on the bow, you can become a proficient shooter. Traditional archers shoot two primary bow designs – recurves and longbows. The bow you choose is largely personal preference.
